Focus on the Positives!

This was a pretty normal week, which for Puerto is actually pretty abnormal! Usually something kind of abnormal happens.... But this week was pretty tranquilo. But maybe as I kind of talk about a few things of the week, I will remember.

So we had plans to baptize this awesome guy named Henry this week. He is good friends with a recent convert, so whenever we would teach him throughout the course of the last 3 weeks, we would teach him in the house of Felipe, the recent convert. The lessons were awesome, because we almost wouldn't even have to teach! Just Felipe and his family would teach Henry and we were kind of there to just help. But then came Saturday, the 4th of July, the day for his baptism, and he was gone!! He was no where to be found. He was not in his house! He wasn't in his work. He doesn't have a phone. Nothing!! We looked for him practically all day, and we came up dry. Then we go to his work on Sunday morning and there he was!! Aghhh!! He told us that he just didn't feel ready yet, that he was scared of falling after baptism! That is so common here. But we were like, OK but why did you go disappearing? You didn't have to hide like that! You could have just told us! haha Overall it was a bit frustrating but he has agreed that in 2 more weeks, he will be ready for baptism, so tune in in 2 weeks to hear more about him! haha He really is an awesome man!

Another cool family that we found this week is Kenya and Jerson! They are a young couple that are probably about 20 and 21, and they have a cute little 6 month old baby! We started teaching little parts of the Plan of Salvation and they just eat it up in every lesson! They love the belief that we will live in eternal families!! They came to church no problema with us this Sunday, even after a small accident Sunday morning. We went to pass by them in the morning on Sunday to see how they were doing but when we got there, it was just Jerson and the baby sitting on the steps of their house. When he turned to shake my hand, in that split second, the baby literally leaned forward and took a 3 foot plunge to the ground, face first! It was so sad! Poor Jerson was so stressed, because his wife was out for a bit. He knew she would be furious with him. Luckily the baby ended up being just fine, and Kenya was only a little upset with him. But I think they were fine after coming to church. Small blessings! :)

We are also teaching this young man named Chester who is about 18. We finished a lesson one night and he asked us the best question ever! He asked how he could be a missionary like us! So we explained the small process to him and he is super excited to serve a misión now! He is going to be so awesome. He has plans to get baptized this Saturday! We are so excited for Him!

Overall, it was an awesome week! We saw several small miracles amidst many big obstacles and difficulties this week. But as soon as we started to focus only on the positive, and not care about the negatives as much, the week became a lot better because of our perspective. So I challenge you to do the same. Don't let your perspective be something that makes your week a bad week. Focus on the good. Even if you weren't able to get all that you wanted done in a day, focus on the things that you were able to get done and the good things that did happen. Even if they are few, there is always something. I love this Gospel, and it is often the motive for the good things that are happening every time in my life! I hope you all can enjoy the same.

Love, Elder Moser

P.S. I am back in business with the camera!!

Pics from a few weeks ago...

Crossing a river in some trees. We all put our Tarzan pants on and made like monkeys!

Still crossing the river.

Then we got to the land of desolation...

The Land of desolation!!
