HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOMMY!!

Dear familia,

So this week was quite the week!! After searching a solid 6 months, I finally got to play with a monkey. I am thinking that will be one of my first big purchases when I get home! They are so awesome and smart little fellas! hahah They just jump around and steal things and treat life as a game. We became best friends real quick! so that was pretty stinking awesome!

Playing with my new friend, his name is Bolo. That means drunk! :) hahaha

He saw my pen and wanted to steal it...

 he got it!

Picking the bugs out of my hair!

Finally we were best friends when he found out I had his leash! :)

Elder Snow came out to Nicaragua this last weekend! That was pretty cool. His calling in the seventy is the history keeper. In Spanish historiador, but I don't really know what that is in English, haha! He spoke and some others spoke very highly on the importance of keeping a journal and keeping record of all the things that happen in our lives and in our missions. He talked about how if Alma would not have kept record of what Abinadi had spoken, we would not know what went on there. Then he brought up the aspect of how we don't know exactly how we affect the lives of the people we talk to just as Abinadi died probably thinking he had 0 converts. He was rejected on the first lesson. but really he was the means of the conversion of millions!! I loved the quote, "You can count the amount of apple seeds in an apple, but you can't count the amount of apples in an apple seed." So good! Our efforts have unseen and everlasting effects when we share the truth!

We baptized Gerald this weekend! He is the nephew of Andres and Josefina! I love that family so much!! They are the best ever!! They are just so eager to help out everyone that lives in their house and all of their family and friends! Also, Andres received the Aaronic priesthood! That was super exciting! We have been working hard to prepare him and he did it! And he will also be receiving the Melchizedek priesthood in November when we have district conference! :) I am so excited for him! So overall, this was a really great weekend! I love the mission!!

Other pics this week...

I am retaking hair styling. I feel as though I am a little out of practice.

This is typical computer time in the zone Puerto Cabezas, a couple people writing and the rest just hanging around.

We found a magic tree without a trunk?! weird! hahaha

I was a bit confused in the moment...

I guess I left this pair of shoes laying around too long and they got super moldy.... I cleaned them and this is one cleaned and one still moldy.

Rain Rain Please Go Away!!

Sooooo this week was full of rain! And when I say full of rain, I mean full of rain. When it rains here it rains hard. The difference is that normally it doesn't rain for very long at a time. Maybe 10 minutes at a time and then it stops. But this week it was pretty different it rained like all day every day!!! So all I was doing was praying that it would stop on Sunday! It was so great because it didn't rain on Sunday until about 7:30 at night!! True miracle because when it rains here no one goes to church! haha We walk in the rain all week every hour of the day soaking wet, the only thing we hope for is that it doesn't rain on Sunday! ahahha miracles!

Just enjoying the flooding! :)

There are days that I make the wrong choice. I should have gone boots today. Luckily Elder Baltimore was prepared! :)

Took the duck out for a swim.

The flooding is really cool from indoors. Not so great when you have to walk through it.

So other than that, well I guess along with that in a way, we had many many trials this week. But instead of dwelling on the trials, I will focus on the blessings. Well the one I have seen so far: I have had too many oportunidades to practice patience in this last week! and I guess that is a good thing. Ask and ye shall receive! I have been asking God lately to help me be more patience. You know what they say, practice makes perfect! ;) So yeah! Practice patience!!! It is a tough one, but I have been doing better than before!! hahah

Other than that we are just trucking along! :) Sorry for the lack of cool stories this week. I will make next week more interesting! :)

If a 74 year old man can do it, so can we!

Well this week was super!  And I could share many things, but I really just want to talk about two. One, be careful what you complain about, because with patience, we might have gotten what we wanted. and 2, the subject, if a 74 year old man can do it, so can we.

1) So this week we worked really really hard, not gonna lie, it was really tough, but we found houses of many less actives through the course of the week as we were contacting and looking for new investigators. I was so excited to be able to see how the efforts were going to pay off. I was hoping to see many less actives (and investigators of course) in church this week. Well we normally go to two meetings, one in the morning in Spanish and one in the afternoon in Miskito. But in the first meeting, nobody that we had visited throughout the week had come. I got frustrated and might have even complained just a bit. I was just sad that all the people that we had worked with in the week hadn't even come! Then I ate my words when we left and as we were leaving one of the less actives was coming with her non member husband to church for the first time in one year! So awesome! They showed up at the time of a different meeting, but they came! I ate my words... and then again in the afternoon when a big family of like 12 people that are less active also came. So we saw some cool fruits of reactivation. I had to apologize for not having the patience to wait just a bit longer to see the fruits of my labors. But I sure was grateful for those small fruits. Faith builders!

2) Jose, the 74 year old man we are teaching is still really sick with bad stomach pains and the normal things that accompany that! ;) haha But we got there on Sunday and he wasn't feeling any better, so we worked really hard to pump them up and overcome the obstacle that was presented so that they could continue toward their baptism! After about 5 minutes of talking, he said to his wife, "you know what?, lets go! we need to prepare for our baptism!" So they came!! He threw the obstacle right out of the way and trusted in God, and went to church. They went with us in a taxi on the way there, but then as they were leaving we were going to find a taxi for them, but Jose said that they were just going to walk home. It is like a 20 minute walk home so that was awesome!! I encourage us all to just throw out the obstacles and trust in God!! h
He will strengthen us when we show our devotion to Him! Just as he strengthened Jose to walk home without a problem!!

Love you all tons!! Have a great week!!

Short Week!

Well this was quite the week!! It felt like one of the shortest weeks of my mission yet!! Monday we had Pday, Tuesday morning to Thursday afternoon we went to Managua. Thursday afternoon to Saturday morning we worked normal and then Saturday and Sunday was the conference rush! hahah sooo only a tiny bit of time to work!!!
In the airplane on the way to Managua!
When we got back from Managua, Elder Baltimore and Elder Monson had a nice setup waiting for Elder Compton. They keep making jokes about how he is super close to finishing the mission! Haha

Sooooo when we started to work, we saw several miracles. We really started the week with very few investigators, and that was kind of discouraging because we had very limited time in the area but we had faith, and the Lord helped us find many new people, and many that accepted to put goals to be baptized!! So that was really exciting!!

We got many people ready to visit the conference with us! And the conference was so awesome! YEAH! I was so excited! I just love so many of the talks that were given! Of course I loved the talk from President Holland! Mothers are so awesome! I love my mom so much! She is that person that was always always there for me!! Even when she didn't want to be!! So yes, mothers are super important!

Also I really loved the one from the President Monson in the priesthood session that talked about the importance of the commandments, and that we have them to keep us happy and bring us joy! We need to stop being so flaky in keeping the commandments. Doing it only when convenient. It won't make us happier to live the commandments only when it is easy! Along with the one of Elder Keetch where he says that the barrier is the only thing keeping us from being devoured! I love that!  We need to trust that the Lords barriers are here to always protect us from things we cannot see. I loved when he said that it is easy to stay in the barrier when we know what is lurking on the other side, but when we are unaware, it takes so much faith and that is really the only way to grow!!
So many other great talks, but I will leave it for now!

We got to watch conference in English! :)

Thanks for all the updates!! Hope all is well!! Remember to always keep the commandments and have faith that the Lord knows much more than we do!!
